PARENTS

Preparation is key to your Cadet's Success.

Our Training Team knows that successful cadets have an active and engaged support network. This is ESSENTIAL.

It can be challenging for parents too! For some of you, this may be the first time your child has been away from home.

It might be the first time they are away from home without their cell phones.

We know acutely that you are trusting us with your most valuable possession and our promise to you is we will take care of them. While they are in our charge we will challenge them, guide and encourage them. They will learn as much about themselves as they will about the US Navy and its traditions.

HOW YOU CAN HELP!

Letters from Home give a big boost to cadets' morale as they endure the demanding schedule at RTC.

Engage family and friends, encourage them to write, send cards and offer encouragement. With advances in technology, we know that not every cadet learns how to address an envelope, please spent a few moments helping your cadet so that if they decide to write to you, they can.

Please write, even if your cadet said they didn't want mail, they will. Seeing a cadet without mail can be disheartening.

Please, DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES SHARE BAD/SAD news in a letter to your cadet. This has happened in previous years and caused distress to cadets and the training team.

If there is a serious reason that you need to contact the Commanding Officer of the training to discuss, please reach out to your home division's CO and they will assist.
